{"id":85,"date":"2009-10-02T23:00:10","date_gmt":"2009-10-03T03:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raebelle.wordpress.com\/?p=85"},"modified":"2009-10-02T23:00:10","modified_gmt":"2009-10-03T03:00:10","slug":"staying-organized-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raebelle.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/02\/staying-organized-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Staying Organized: Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love organizing!\u00c2\u00a0 It makes me feel calm and together.\u00c2\u00a0 Some of my amused managers and co-workers have even called me hyper organized!\u00c2\u00a0 Because I like very specific items I buy my a lot of my own supplies for work, so some of the items cross over between work and home.\u00c2\u00a0 I thought I&#8217;d share some of the key tools I use to keep my organized for work.<\/p>\n<h3>Electronic<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/iphone\/\">iPhone<\/a> &#8211; My iPhone is wonderful.\u00c2\u00a0 I currently have the white 32GB 3GS.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s great.\u00c2\u00a0 I have so many apps that make my work life easier, like OmniFocus and SplashID.\u00c2\u00a0 It also use my iPhone to listen to podcasts and music to keep me focused while working.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a great little organizational machine for me!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.omnigroup.com\/applications\/omnifocus\">OmniFocus<\/a> &#8211; This is like my second brain.\u00c2\u00a0 I record all of my to do items in here.\u00c2\u00a0 If it&#8217;s not in OmniFocus, it&#8217;s not getting done.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m diligent in recording everything that needs to get done in here. \u00c2\u00a0 OmniFocus was designed for the Getting Things Done system from David Allen &amp; Co.\u00c2\u00a0 While I don&#8217;t strictly adhere to the GTD system, I do follow many of the principles.\u00c2\u00a0 OmniFocus is flexible enough allow me follow the portions of the system I chose and still achieve my goals.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been using it on my MacBook since the beta, and on my iPhone since the app was realized.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a dream.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/splashdata.com\/splashid\/index.asp\">SplashID<\/a> &#8211; My company has not yet fully embraced the concept of a single sign on.\u00c2\u00a0 So I have multiple logins &amp; passwords for work.\u00c2\u00a0 Additionally I need to access websites outside the company for various purposes.\u00c2\u00a0 SplashID gives me one central location to find all my logon IDs and passwords for each site or application.\u00c2\u00a0 My iPhone app syncs to my personal MacBook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Analog<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.moleskine.com\/\">Moleskine<\/a> &#8211; I love using a Moleskine to take meeting notes for my short term projects.\u00c2\u00a0 They are also great when designing user interfaces.\u00c2\u00a0 I tend towards the Large Squared Notebook.\u00c2\u00a0 The size is just shy of half letter, which seems to work perfectly for me.\u00c2\u00a0 I like squared over ruled or blank.\u00c2\u00a0 It helps me keep my notes organized and my sketches aligned.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.levenger.com\/PAGETEMPLATES\/NAVIGATION\/Products.asp?Params=category=326|level=2|pageid=1749\">Circa<\/a> &#8211; Levenger, thank you for bringing Circa into my life.\u00c2\u00a0 I adore these notebooks!\u00c2\u00a0 For work I mostly use the Junior and Letter sizes.\u00c2\u00a0 I have a customized Junior notebook that I use for normal meetings.\u00c2\u00a0 All my current projects have either a Letter or Junior sized notebook assigned to them.\u00c2\u00a0 For some of my projects, I&#8217;ll even grab one of my leather foldover notebooks or zip folios.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve found these are great for all day off site meetings.\u00c2\u00a0 They really keep me organized.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.3m.com\/us\/office\/postit\/products\/prod_notes.html\">Post-It Notes<\/a> &#8211; My favorite Post-It notes are the Super Sticky ones.\u00c2\u00a0 I normally use the canary yellow ones because I&#8217;m a bit of a traditionalist and they stand out just enough for me.\u00c2\u00a0 I use them to take down super short term notes (like voicemail messages) or add an extra note to some printed pages (like which slides for a presentation I&#8217;m doing)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.3m.com\/us\/office\/postit\/products\/prod_ft.html\">Post-It Flags<\/a> &#8211;
